Dr. Adrianne Harrison-Surgeon is the lead technology teacher at Fresh Start Academy Middle/High School in East Orange; she received a Bachelor of Arts, from Howard University in Human Communications. She holds two masters degrees; a Master of Professional Studies in Interactive Telecommunications at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, and a Master of Education from St. Peter’s University. Adrianne graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Management from Drexel University. With a concentration in Learning Technologies, her dissertation, Online Credit Recovery Programs in U.S. High Schools, Effect on Society, a quantitative study, is the basis for further research in alternative and non-traditional education programs, school culture, and retention. Adrianne is the author of various published abstracts and papers in the Web of Science databases that index the world's leading scholarly literature in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities. Adrianne's published work includes titles such as "Online Credit Recovery Accountability Through Personalized Learning Plans at U.S. High Schools, A Quantitative Study " presented at EDULEARN21, (International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies.). Additionally, a paper entitled Personalized Learning To Improve School Culture and Increase School Retention, a Quantitative Study, at ICERI 2021, International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation, November 2021. In March 2022, Adrianne presented a qualitative case-study paper to the NJECC, New Jersey Educational Technology Conference on Personalized Learning for At-Risk Students Through Demonstrated Use of Interactive Technology Tools. At INTED 2022, 16th International Technology, Education and Development Conference, Adrianne presented a paper entitled Adapting To Personalized Learning In Hybrid And Virtual Classrooms. Adrianne has held various leadership positions on boards of directors and non profit organizations. At-Large Board Member, Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation Board of Directors. President of a local New Jersey chapter and chairman of the North Atlantic Region Connections Committee of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Founding member and Program Director of Jack & Jill of America Essex- Hudson chapter, NJ., Board member, Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges Board of Directors, and Chair, East Orange YMCA Board of Managers, Board Member, Phenomena Education Software Advisory Board. Adrianne also serves as chairs the Education Ministry on the vestry at Christ Church Short Hills, NJ.
